About the role and team
The ERS group covers the full range of workplace related issues, with scope to work across other KWM offices nationally. You will work primarily with our Brisbane Partner, Jamie Wells, and Senior Associates.
Jamie Wells is a very experienced practitioner with over 18 years’ experience as a partner. He has significant experience across the full spectrum of employment issues, covering transactional work, advisory, and disputes. He has an established profile in business restructuring, including public sector privatisation roles. This is reflected in his current practice.
The work covers both front and/or back end work, where preferences can be accommodated.
Recently, the team has roles:
- in Federal Court employment class action litigation for a global mining operator;
- advising on industrial relations on the State’s cornerstone infrastructure project;
- advising on employment and industrial relations for the State’s new energy generation GOC;
- a national restructure of a key hospitality and gaming client.
What experience are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with initiative, drive and excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be involved in a mix of advisory, transactional and disputes work across a range of sectors. Ideally, you will have experience in running smaller matters as well as supporting our work on more significant disputes in Fair Work and the courts.
You will have carriage of a number of files on a day to day basis, working directly with Jamie or one of the Senior Associates. The successful candidate will be encouraged to work autonomously, and to take ownership over his/her work.
Why work with us?
We do great work and have a lot of fun. We are focused on growing the ERS team and your development is an important part of that. We try hard to give on the job feedback as well as targeted feedback during formal review conversations.
We want to be the law firm clients love to work with and a great place to work and grow for our people. It’s important to us and our clients that you, our people, find working at KWM an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
