About the role
Our Canberra Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) group are currently recruiting a mid-level Solicitor. Our lawyers get exposure to significant matters for both Commonwealth clients and major corporates; this mix of government and major corporate work is unique in the Canberra market. We also have strong ties to the local community particularly in supporting the ACT innovation ecosystem.
This role is part of our M&A group where the focus is on undertaking financial services regulatory and corporate and commercial advisory work for a broad range of clients.
The team has strong leadership from Partners from across the M&A team who work together to expose you to good, challenging work. Whilst working in a friendly and encouraging environment, you will have access to supportive and creative mentoring from senior lawyers, partners, and other legal experts (across different locations and practice areas), deepening your own legal expertise. However, you will be expected to be a “self-starter”, proactively driving forward matters with an appropriate level of autonomy.
You will have
First rate written and oral communication skills, strong drafting experience, top notch legal analysis and an ability to get across complex areas of law quickly, but what’s most important to us is that you have a passion for commercial law and serving clients. You will also have a strong interest in and understanding of industry sectors in which we operate.
You will be self-aware, positive and have the ability to work well with others; being able to collaborate and work in a team is critical to success at KWM. In this ever changing legal and commercial landscape, you will also thrive in a culture that embraces change.
You will be the centre of information for clients and transform the client experience by truly engaging in and fostering those relationships to deliver relevant, prompt and commercially astute advice. Have an existing Security clearance (or have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance)
Please note, this role requires Australian citizenship due to the security clearance obligation.
