About the role
You will be responsible for varied challenging complex legal work which often sets the pace in the market. Working closely with Scott Singleton , you will perform advisory and transactional work for a range of clients across the mining and petroleum, energy, government, infrastructure and telecommunications sectors, and for traditional owner groups, across Australia.
Primary practice areas include:
native title future acts and Aboriginal cultural heritage advice and negotiations for major projects;
representing respondents in native title claims in the Federal Court;
native title, Aboriginal cultural heritage and Aboriginal land due diligence for developments, acquisitions and financings;
mining and petroleum tenement acquisitions and divestments, farmins and joint ventures;
representation in negotiated and litigated land access matters; and
advice on mine and gas field development and tenement compliance.
You will have
strong experience advising clients on native title, Aboriginal cultural heritage and Aboriginal land matters – candidates with experience and a passion for negotiating agreements will be considered particularly favourably;
regulatory experience with any or all of Australian mining and petroleum regimes (including Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory);
excellent analytical, communication, drafting and research skills;
strong commitment to client service, cultural sensitivity and well-developed relationship management ability;
a team focus - to facilitate effective teamwork by developing strong internal relationships; and
enthusiasm to be involved in business development activities – including participating in industry related programs and developing strategic relationships and networks.
